The Middlesex County Fair Association is very conscious of the need to serve the County and its people. In this effort, the Fair Association has developed a promotion which will be sponsored by Solitario & Tierney CPAs to assist the various nonprofit organizations in the County. This is THE MIDDLESEX COUNTY FAIR CHARITY CHALLENGE.
Simply, any non-profit group with operations in Middlesex County and an IRS tax-exempt determination letter can participate. The Fair Association provides a jug for each charity in our CHARITY CHALLENGE ARENA. Fairgoers are encouraged to drop money in the jug of their favorite charity during the course of the fair. On Sunday, August 13th, at 6:00 pm, each charity's representative counts the money in their jug, and the charity with the most money receives an additional $500 prize from Solitario & Tierney CPAs.
Charities may attach an 8 ½ x 11 black and white information page to their jug; however, pamphlets and other more involved information are prohibited. In the past, charities have raised several hundred dollars during the week just by letting people know of their participation in the Charity Challenge at the Middlesex County Fair.
Those wishing to enter THE MIDDLESEX COUNTY FAIR CHARITY CHALLENGE should write to the Fair Association at PO Box 400, Milltown, NJ 08850 indicating their interest in participating. Included should be the name of the charity, the name and telephone number of the representative who will count the money in the charity's jug, and a copy of the organization's IRS tax-exempt determination letter. Everyone must submit a new copy of their IRS determination even if you did so before. PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS!
For the final count, only cash received in the jug will be counted towards the prize total. Any checks received by the charity, while of course theirs to keep, will not be included. Any charity that has won the $500 sponsor prize in the last two years is ineligible for this year's prize.
The charity's representative must be present at 6:00 pm on Sunday, August 13th to count their money as no monies will be mailed. All unclaimed monies will be donated to the Middlesex County Fair Association.
Entries must be received by Wednesday, August 2nd to participate.
