DIVISION 1 - VEGETABLES

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Using vegetables, make an arrangement in the shape of the numbers 80.

DIVISION 2 - FRUIT

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Using fruit, make an arrangement in the shape of the numbers 80.

DIVISION 3 - FLOWERS

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Use your imagination to capture the meaning of the county fair to you. The use of accessories is permitted along with potted and or cut flowers.

DIVISION 4 - BAKED GOODS

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Share with us your favorite memory, what the fair means to you, what you look forward to at the fair, or how you plan to celebrate this big anniversary in your favorite medium. Use your favorite Butter Cream, Fondant, Sugar, etc. with Cookies or Cakes of any size or on their own to make your creation.

DIVISION 5 - CANNING

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Any canned item using a recipe that is at least 40 years old. Modern canning techniques must be used for processing. Include the recipe.

DIVISION 6 - QUILTS

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Help us celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Middlesex County Fair by making one 12" block (unquilted). The block should represent a fair theme, perhaps a special memory of your time at the fair. You may choose any technique to make your block, pieced, applique, embellishments, any combination. Please include a 3" x 5" index card describing your theme and technique used. The block will be judged on both technique and fair theme.

DIVISION 7 - NEEDLEWORK

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - "In honor of the anniversary of the Middlesex County Fair, this special category will include any needlework technique which would have been used in 1938, and have a subject relating to Middlesex County as it existed in 1938 when the Fair was established. Along with the item submitted there should be a 3"x5" index card with the technique listed and a brief explanation of the choice of subject matter. Items will be judged on both the technique and the subject matter."

DIVISION 8 - KNITTING

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Any knitted item using a vintage pattern or using a style or technique that was first popular in a previous decade.

DIVISION 9 - CROCHET

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Any crocheted item using a vintage pattern or using a style or technique that was first popular in a previous decade.

DIVISION 10 - HANDWORK

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Using one of the techniques listed in Handwork, make any item that showcases something you would see at the fair.

DIVISION 11 - SEWING

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Make any article using a vintage pattern or fabric. You may also use a current pattern as long as it is of a vintage design (ex. 1950's).

DIVISION 12 - CRAFTS

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Using your chosen craft method, create a piece that celebrates 80 years of the Middlesex County Fair. One entry per person - so choose your best craft style. Size limit - no larger than 24" x 24". Entries will be judged on creativity, execution, and how well they meet the challenge criteria (Celebrating 80 Years of the Middlesex County Fair). Questions should be directed to the Crafts Chairs.

DIVISION 13 - WOODWORKING

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Items made using hand tools (Any wooden item made without the use of power tools, that is, in the tradition of woodworking done 80 years ago)

DIVISION 14 - ART

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - Create any drawing, painting or ceramic item with a county fair theme.

DIVISION 15 - PHOTOGRAPHY

SECTION AC - 80th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE

Class 80 - A photographic essay depicting life/fun at the fair. The essay must contain between 5 to 10 photographs. It must be displayed on some type of board, such as poster or illustration. Photographs can be any size. The overall display must be no larger than 30 inches by 40 inches. Only one entry per person.

A photo-essay (or photographic essay) is a set or series of photographs that are intended to tell a story or evoke a series of emotions in the viewer. A photo essay will often show pictures in deep emotional stages. Photo essays range from purely photographic works to photographs with captions or small notes to full text essays with a few or many accompanying photographs. Photo essays can be sequential in nature, intended to be viewed in a particular order, or they may consist of non-ordered photographs which may be viewed all at once or in an order chosen by the viewer.

DIVISION 16 - SEASONAL/HOLIDAY DECORATIONS

Class 80 - Make any item that reminds you of something you'd see at the fair.
